Welcome Fellow Hokies, Alumni, and Friends!
My name is Maya Kumar and I am the President of Virginia Tech's Society of Indian Americans for 2011- 2012. For those of you that are not already familiar with our organization, SIA is a cultural society dedicated to enriching the lives of the South Asian community at Virginia Tech as well as the lives of other students who are interested in the culture and traditions of this region. We participate in many events, on and off campus, as well as host our own annual show at the end of the year in hopes to share our culture and heritage with others.
We are a part of the Asian American Student Union and the Council of International Students Organization and also participate in philanthropic organizations such as Relay for Life, and other similar causes so that we can offer our hand in helping the members of our community that need it.
We also encourage participation in any one of the dance teams associated with SIA such as VT Bhangra, VT Junoon (fusion dance team), or Indian Classical Fusion.
SIA is a great way to meet new people, make new friends, and have fun doing it! If you have any questions about how to become a member, or comments and/or suggestions on how we can better our organization, please feel free to contact me or any one of the officers! Our contact information can be found under the "Officers" link at the top of this page.
Thank you and Hope to see you at our events!
Maya Kumar
